Whitney Johnston grew up in New Orleans, received her BFA in Photography and Imaging from Tisch/NYU, and will receive her MFA in Film/Video from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the spring. She is currently working on her thesis film: an experimental docu-drama that explores the lives of the female constellation that is her family and attempts to answer (or leave unanswered) questions of mothering, motherhood, role-playing, role disruption, and expectations of women in the South.
