HBO Honors Visionary Filmmaker Huay-Bing Law

HBO’s Asian Pacific American Visionaries short film competition honors standout filmmakers with unique voices. This year, Huay-Bing Law, 2017 Princess Grace Film Award winner, came in first place for “June” a short film that PGF-USA proudly helped support in its early stages.

“June” is set on an American college campus during the 1960s and chronicles the experience of a young Chinese woman as she attends her husband's graduation. This year, the theme of the competition centered around the concept of home, and artists were encouraged to creatively explore the meaning of what that meant to them.

The competition was judged by a panel of illustrious individuals, including HBO executives, industry leaders and APA filmmakers.

In addition to this incredible honor, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) just announced that "June" is a finalist for their 2018 Student Film awards. The competition, which accepted films from students across the globe, is an annual event celebrating the works of the next generation of talented and innovative filmmakers.
