Kaitlen is an actor-creator, collaborator, director, and teacher from Franklin, Tennessee. She is an alumnus of Directors Lab Chicago. Kaitlen has enjoyed working with Barrel of Monkeys, Rhino Fest, the Minnesota Fringe Festival, the Chicago Fringe Festival, and the Winding Sheet Outfit. She has trained with Second City, The Annoyance, and the Neo-Futurists; and taught with Lexington Children's Theatre and Rosetown Playhouse. She holds a BFA in acting and directing from Western Kentucky University where she published a thesis about her work in Forum Theatre with middle and high school students.
In 2012, Kaitlen collaborated internationally and taught/worked with Bluespots Productions in Germany before pursuing her MFA in Ensemble-Based Physical Theatre at Dell'Arte International in Blue Lake, California (class of 2015). Kaitlen is well-versed in a multitude of forms and styles including community-based arts engagements, commedia dell'arte, musical theater, clown, Balinese shadow puppetry and dance, acrobatics, masks, improvisation, and a touch of Bouffon.
Currently, Kaitlen is based in Minneapolis, MN. She is a grant writer and festival organizer around the country. She is the Audience & Volunteer Services Director for the Minnesota Fringe, runs the Drama Program at Roseville Area High School, and also co-directs/playwrights for Rosetown Playhouse’s theatre camps. In 2019, Kaitlen collaborated with Benjamin Emory Larson to write and direct a new musical called Thomasina Sawyer.
