Daniel Tyler Mathews is from Nashville, Tennesse and is a 2015 M.F.A. Costume Design candidate at Carnegie Mellon University. Costume design credits include L’etoile, King Lear, Arcadia, Stuff Happens, and Fences as well as makeup designs for La Cage aux Folles, Amadeus, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (associate). Regionally, he has worked as a costume artisan for the Utah Shakespeare Festival (2009-2012) and has been an Assistant Costume Designer at American Players Theatre (2011-12, 2014). At the University of Memphis he received the Dean’s Creative Achievement Award (2010), the Dean’s Academic Achievement Award (2012), and
was Student Marshall for the University’s centennial graduation (2012). In 2012 he received Utah Shakespeare Festival’s Young Designer Award. At CMU he is currently working on The Wiz and his theoretical thesis.
