His Serene Highness Prince Albert II succeeded his father on November 19, 2005 after his father, Prince Rainier lll,passed away at age 81. He is keenly interested in augmenting the role of Monaco in world affairs as a peaceful, but proactive nation. Prior to his accession, he assumed a leadership position on the International Olympic Committee and continues to be active in the UN. His particular interest is in coordinating efforts to address environmental challenges. In 2006 he journeyed to the North Pole to highlight global warming and to commemorate the 1906 expedition of his great-grandfather, Albert I. He has inaugurated the Fondation Prince Albert II of Monaco to fund solutions for global warming, biodiversity and water. Under his direction Monaco is for the first time represented by an ambassador to the United States. Prince Albert continues to visit his mother’s country of birth regularly. On July 1, 2011, HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco married Miss Charlene Wittstock.

Her Royal Highness Princess Caroline of Hanover is married to His Highness Prince Ernst of Hanover. Together they have six children. Caroline maintains a home and office in Monaco and is very involved with her duties as Chairman of the Red Cross and the Princess Grace Foundation there. She founded Les Ballets de Monte Carlo and is president of The Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Monte Carlo Opera, the Prince Pierre Foundation, the Spring Arts Festival, and the Monte Carlo Garden Club. She won the Children's Champion Award from UNICEF in 2006 in recognition of Her longstanding dedication to helping the world's children, in particular in Her capacity as President of AMADE.

Her Serene Highness Princess Stephanie lives in Monaco where She is raising Her three children. Following in Her father’s footsteps, She has always loved the circus, and She is President of the International Circus Festival held each year since 1974 in Monaco. Because of Her longtime interest in the fight against AIDS and Her activist Presidency of Monacosida, She was named special representative for Monaco to UNAIDS. She spoke to the international delegation at the 2006 High level meeting on AIDS at the UN in New York.

The children of Princess Grace and Prince Rainier continue their strong relationship with the country of their mother’s birth and their family there. The Princess Grace Foundation- USA benefits from their interest in and commitment to its objectives.
